LOCAL BANDS AND THEIR FANS READ ON…

We will have a survey at the Test Screening of WARRIOR as part of our campaign to recruit the best local bands for the event. When entering the test screening of WARRIOR at The Astor on Friday the 13th of April at 11pm, you will have the opportunity to vote in your favourite local band. These votes will count towards the selection of bands.

Interested bands should also express their interest at the screening by filling in an application and presenting it to our staff on the night of the Test Screening. The most enthusiastic bands may get the chance to perform at the big event.

METAL WARRIORS promotions HISTORY

For those of you unfamiliar with Metal Warriors promotions, here is a brief history. Metal Warriors have had over ten years of experience promoting and working on big events. It all started back in 1995 when Steve Ravic, together with Vek Vidalin founded Metal Warriors. The first live shows were the METAL WARRIORS CONCERTS promoting the METAL WARRIORS Video Magazines. These events ended up becoming METAL WARRIORS METALFEST. Recognised as the first and biggest label and promotions company for Traditional & Melodic Heavy Metal in Australia, Metal Warriors were renowned for breaking out local bands and taking them to the big International stages,

DUNGEON were one of the biggest success stories touring Internationally on three occasions, filming a live show for DVD in Japan and most recently doing a World Tour with MEGADETH. VANISHING POINT was another band that played 32 shows throughout Europe and toured with German superstars GAMMA RAY.

Dungeon in Japan

Mainstream International bands like KISS and Alice Cooper were touring Australia, but Metal Warriors was the first promotions company to begin the uprising of International bands touring Australia since the rut in the 90’s. Back when very few promoters would even dare considering bringing out European Heavy Metal bands, Steve Ravic, then considered crazy to even be considering the idea, started the European Invasion onto Australian Territory with mainstream charting European bands like EDGUY, DORO and DESTRUCTION. Analysts predicted these tours would fail miserably because the bands were not released on Australian labels, but they were all a huge success and due to this, a sudden stream of bands have been touring Australia ever since.

Steve Ravic was then flown to Europe by the Queen of Metal herself to Direct the DORO PESCH 20th anniversary show with the first reunion performance of WARLOCK and featuring special guests on stage from bands like IRON MAIDEN, MOTORHEAD, SAXON, BONFIRE and ACCEPT just to name a few, and this was broadcast on German National Television.

Members of our crew have also organised and/or worked on tours in Australia and around the world for other huge bands like ALICE COOPER, MANOWAR, KISS, MOTORHEAD, MOTLEY CRUE, TOTO, SLAYER, MAYHEM, ANGRA, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, GAMMA RAY and many more.

Kai Hansen

Stage manager Simon Cleary has been part of some of the biggest events in history like the KISS Symphony and the most memorable experience for the Metal Warriors Chief was the DORO 20th Anniversary show and the MANOWAR Union show at Earthshaker in front of 30,000 plus people where all the former members were up on stage.

In 2005 Metal Warriors promotions was put on hold due to the filming of the movie WARRIOR. Now that production is complete, Metal Warriors is ready for the biggest chapter yet, combining the movie with the stage and creating the biggest Hard Rocking festival event in Australian History!
